VERKOL'S MANAGEMENT SYSTEM


VERKOL , S.A. is leader in the market of lubricants and special products, backed up by more than 80 years of continued company growth. The field proven high quality of all our products is achieved following specific strategic targets: flexibility, creativity and innovation.

In order to obtain these objectives we have developed a Quality and Environment Management System, started in the year 1990, attending to the ISO-9002 Standard in 1994 and in agreement with the ISO-14001 Standard in 2002. Nowadays the scope of the certification according to both standards includes the design as well as the manufacture of the products that we commercialise because the system has been certified according to the new ISO-9001/2000 referential since November-2003.

From the beginning of the implementation of the system, it was considered very important the training and awareness of quality of all VERKOL , S.A. workers and the objective of doing things well and at first. Likewise, the system was implemented being aware of tidiness and cleanness at work, been the managers directly involved in achieving a tidy workplace inside and outside of the factory. This "way of work "has become a deeply rooted company culture that has allowed us to become better during these years and has been helpful for the implementation of the ISO 14001 Standard in which the workers awareness of the environment is very important.

The introduction of the integrated Quality and Environment Management System has allowed us to develop our strategic targets, flexibility, creativity and innovation, promoting the development of several R&D projects backed up by CDTI, Navarra's Government and the PROFIT program. Many products have been developed with better technical characteristics and a better environmental impact with this program.

The scope of Quality and Environment Certificates makes reference to the design, where it has been considered the product manufactured from its conception and, as significant environmental aspect, it has also been considered the effect of the product on people, animals and the environment from the moment of its conception and in all the design phases.

From this point of view, at the present time we are working in the development of new lubricating greases with better features, being understood among other things , the improvement of greases lifetimes in the applications for which they have been designed, so that the re-lubrication periods are extended and the amount of grease used in the mechanism is decreased reducing the consumption of non-renewable raw materials and the generation of residues that the user has to eliminate. The objective is to improve the technical features of the product assuring the operation of the elements to lubricate and reducing the environmental costs.

For the development of these projects VERKOL , S.A. has mounted in its laboratories the FAG FE9 and FE8 bearings test bank machines . These test banks work according to DIN standards and are used to evaluate greases from the point of view of their lifetimes in bearings (FE9) and of their tribological and anti-wear characteristics (FE8). These test banks allow us to improve the prototypes before the field tests in the client's house. VERKOL , S.A. also has the V2F, from SKF, test bank to evaluate the mechanical stability of greases in bearings working under strong vibrations.

On the other hand, we are working in the development of biodegradable lubricants, oils and greases. These products reduce the environmental impact in total loss lubrication where it is difficult to colect the generated residues and in those applications in which product leakages can be produced and therefore contamination of waterways is possible, typical case of hydraulic fluids.

To sum up, VERKOL, S.A. has been equipped with a complete integrated Quality and Environment Management System through which we are able to assure the technical suitability of products from the design phase to its manufacture and commercialization as well as to offer adequate products from the point of view of the environmental impact that can produce in our clients house.
